Welcome to The Fashiontute studio! This is your space to learn, explore, create and grow!

To make the most of it, here are a few simple guidelines we follow to keep the environment positive, respectful, and professional.

STUDIO ETIQUETTE

1. Respect the Space     Treat tools, machines, and materials like they’re shared (because they are). Clean your area before you leave.  The next class will thank you. Keep food and drinks away from fabric and machines.  Eating is not allowed in the studio.

2. Respect Each Other   This is a no-judgment zone – everyone is learning at a different pace. Help each other out, but don’t take over someone else’s project. When you share ideas, receive feedback with an open mind.

3. You’re Here to Grow  Be patient with yourself. Be curious. Try new things. Mistakes are normal. No one walks in an expert. This studio is your practice ground – make the most of it.

4. It’s okay to be inspired.   That’s how all artists start, but if someone’s idea, sketch, or garment stands out to you, ask before you borrow or imitate it,  but remember, originality is part of your journey. Trust your own voice.

5. Give Creative Credit   Sometimes your design might be shaped by something you learned here  – a suggestion from me, a technique from class, or a project example. When showing your creative work publicly (in your portfolio, online, or at a showcase), it’s good practice to say: “Created during coursework at The Fashiontute” or “Based on a concept or a technique introduced by Lynda Osborne”.  This helps you build honesty, trust, and respect. These ethic skills are just as important as the sewing or sketching.

6. Reproducing other people’s work   Some of the designs, sketches, or concepts I use in class may come from my own professional collection, or I may refer to other external collections. They’re here to inspire and teach you, but please don’t reproduce or post them as your own outside of class unless you have the rights and permission to  do so.  Please do not reproduce the work  of others as being yours.

7. About Sharing Your Work    You’ll have chances to show your work on our website, social media, or videos. We’ll always ask for your permission first. If you’re ever unsure, comfortable or have some particular concern, just let us know.  It’s your choice.

8.  Classroom environment  This studio school is very small, allowing beneficial personalized learning so no one gets left behind. Treat it with the respect as given to a large institute.  You are here to learn and the instructor or instructors are here to guide you. There must be no unnecessary distractions to the instructor or the student during that process and these include the unnecessary use of cell phones. Visitors are not allowed during class time.

9.  Class period  The studio will be available  5 minutes before class starts. Class work stops 5 minutes before the period end-time, giving you enough time to organize and secure your work  and tools, and allowing time for the day’s next scheduled class or other activities of  The Fashiontute.
